The Dawdler’s Writings

In this section of my blog/journal you will find various writings and poetry penned over the years. With a few exceptions, most are being published here for the first time. Writing has long been a passion of mine as I know it has been with many others.

The Art of Dying

This writing was originally published one of my earlier blogs, ”Some Final Thoughts”, in 2006 and also on the “Time Goes By” blog featured under the “Elder Storytelling Place” in April of 2007. Most recently, a major portion of the writing was published in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette state newspaper which is located in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Man’s Dream of Forever

In early 1993 I found myself very moved by a series of sermons delivered by Dr. Charles Stanley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia. This series of sermons, which I had purchased from “In Touch Ministries”, was titled “How To Choose Your Destiny”. It was shortly after listening to those sermons that I was inspired to write the subject poem which seemed to consolidate for me the message Dr. Stanley was conveying to his audience. This poem, to date, has been published in literature printed by various churches.

 The Dreaded Science Fair Project

This writing reflects one of the actual experiences I endured during the trials and tribulations of my high school years. School was not on the list of ‘My Most Favorite Things’ at any time during my school years. Except for the fact that it was where all my friends congregated during the day, academically speaking it brought many unsolicited challanges. Not in the least, being the science fair project that we were required to create yearly in our science classes.
